5-Full Day Retreat, Costa Rica

This Retreat will be held at The Retreat Costa Rica, a Luxury Spa Resort in the mountains of Atenas, Costa Rica.

A *5-7 Day, 6-Night Retreat (*see Details), focusing on Yoga for Mental Health, led by Dr. Angie Holzer, specializing in Yoga for Mental Health from Stanford University and Angie Bailey, who specializes in restorative & yoga therapy. All levels are welcome! This retreat will discuss how yoga can help in the areas of mental health on a deeper level. Participants will have the option of receiving a Yoga for Mental Health Certification by the end of the retreat. This retreat includes a daily morning yoga flow, afternoon restorative class, farm-to-table food, & classes to better understand the connection between philosophy & practice.

New to yoga? Are you a yoga instructor? Everyone is welcome. Join us and go deeper in your understanding of how yoga can help in areas of mental health. Dr. Angie Holzer specializes in Yoga for Mental Health and will be teaming up with Angie Bailey to teach classes on trauma-informed yoga, anxiety, depression, and other areas of mental health and how yoga and meditation can help.

This retreat provides healing foods that are gluten-free and dairy-free. Vegetarian and Vegan options are always available. Location: This beautiful healing spa provides a luxury retreat experience in the mountains of Atenas, Costa Rica. Learn more about the retreat here. All packages include a beautiful room, organic & healing foods, spa, pools, yoga studio, nature hikes and more. Flight not included.

*Dates: This is a 5-Full Day, 6 Night Retreat (option of making it 6-7 Days depending on arrival and departure times). All participants should arrive Nov 16th, and leave Nov 22nd. Yoga classes will be offered daily. Scheduled discussions, lectures and specialty classes will be during Nov 17-21.

Retreat Focus

This retreat focuses on Yoga for Mental Health for yoga instructurs, health professionals and anyone interested in becoming certified in Yoga for Mental Health, or wanting to go deeper in their understanding of how yoga impacts mental health. All participants will receive a Yoga for Mental Health Certification at the completion of the retreat.

Yoga for Mental Health Retreats focus on providing tools and techniques in managing different areas of mental health (anxiety, depression, eating disorders, PTSD, trauma, andmore). Classes will address tools for each mental health topic with breathing techniques, asanas (poses), mindfulness techniques & meditations, sounds, mudras, mantras, smells (essential oils), healthy eating, and yoga philosophy. Participants will be able to learn through lectures and then experience the teachings by participating in specific classes (yoga flow, meditation, restorative yoga, gentle yoga and more) focused on what they've been taught.

Yoga for Mental Health Certification: All participants will receive a Yoga for Mental Health Certification at the completion of the retreat.

Who Can Participate?

All levels are welcome! This retreat is focused on learning to adapt your yoga practice to fit different mental health needs. This could include someone new to yoga, yoga instructors, health professionals or anyone interested in deepening their yoga practice. Come join us!

Dr. Angie Holzer

About: Dr. Holzer received her yoga certification in Rishikesh, India from Yogi Dinesh in 2016, where she specialized in Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga. She is trained in Ayurvedic Philosophy, a natural system of medicine, and adapts that into her practice. Dr. Holzer specialized in yoga for mental health at Stanford University, where she taught yoga and meditation classes since 2017. She is certified in trauma-informed yoga, yoga for cancer survivors, and applied adaptive yoga. Dr. Holzer specializes in providing tools to help with anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress, and other areas of mental health.

Angie Bailey

About: Angie has been teaching yoga since 2016 with a passion for meditation, yin, and restorative practices. In 2021 she began working at Resilient Solutions Inc, a therapy group, as a yoga teacher to help support individuals on their healing journey through trauma, anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. She believes it's important to connect the inner being and learn to value and honor oneself. Read More.

Yoga for Mental Health Certification

All participants will have the choice of being Yoga for Mental Health Certified at the completion of the retreat. Whether you are a novice or have been practicing yoga for years, this is a great retreat for you to join. You will gain a greater understanding of how yoga impacts different areas of mental health and how yoga philosophy can help in the healing process. Specific mental health topics will be discussed and participants will come away with tools to help with depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomonia, eating disorders, and more.
